thursday night, i discovered something. if you have to wear a shirt that says "just do me" on the front, no one is going to do you. got it?

so, i worked a double yesterday, and i am tired. it feels good, though. i am making money and getting to know people. i feel comfortable being silly and outgoing because i have my brother and shawn to fall back on, having known them since before even they started working here. i have a few folks that i laugh with. one of them is emily, but i call her "jemily". she started playing around with my full name, and ended up deciding to call me "jams". well, that reminded us of that old "jem" cartoon, with the all-girl band who also had super powers, so i started calling her "jem".

this is becoming a theme at this new job; i saw another high school friend last night. this person ended up sitting in my section. by the way, i hate waiting on folks i know. it is hard for me to find the balance between personal and professional. for example, my dad also came and sat in my section last night. i barely paid any attention to him. i took his order and talked to him a total of 5 minutes the whole time he was there. see, that was completely personal. i know him, so i did not feel that normal need for attentiveness. chris, the high school friend, was there with a lady. maybe that helped me act professionally. i don't know. chris is headed to seminary in massachusetts this fall. exciting.

well, i work a double (both the lunch and dinner shifts) both today and tomorrow. i worked a double yesterday. i am so happy to be making some money. i am almost done with my budget, which i need to keep myself in check. i might set-up a bank account here. i may even get a credit card. i want to build good credit, and as long as i am smart, i can do that with the plastic, baby!
