about 4 miles from my house, there is a breakfast place called clarkie's. i have been eating there since before i had armpit hair. i think they serve lunch, too. my mom and i went there this morning.
see, i gave my mom a book for mother's day. i told her that i wanted to read it independently, but meet each week and discuss it. it sounds weird to me when i read that typed-out. whatever. so, this morning, we had our first discussion over the signature asher dish at clarkie's. i really enjoy picking my mom's brain, though i have to remember to think for myself. when it's your mom, it is easy to just agree with whatever she says. at least that is the case for me. i feel i balance that well.
by the way, it is a book called the sacred romance. it is co-written by brent curtis and john eldredge. a good friend gave it to me as a gift in mississippi, and i am so glad she did. i really love how it is stretching me and putting me in touch with my soul, at the core.
i haven't buzzed my head yet, but only because i lack any guards for the hair clippers. i plan to find some today.
i guess it is a slow news day. oh! i did rearrange my room yesterday. i took out a bookshelf and put some of the furniture in different places. eventually, the spare bedroom will be like a study/music room for me. my musical instruments are starting to overwhelm my bedroom, so that will be good. i am finally accepting that i will be staying with my mom for a couple of years. i had been trying to not completely settle in, hoping to be here less than a year. i am going to be here until i finish my bachelor's, i know, but i am thinking of staying and getting a master's, too. what the hell, you know? i might as well. i want to pursue multiple graduate degrees, so why not do that where rent is low and classes are cheaper because i live in the state?
i want to go bowling this week, and i need to figure out a good place to camp out, too. i am itching for a few nights in a tent.
tonight, i have my first "real" shift at work. yay.
